Heading for a ban.
yo guys,

erm well just took a look at my wildlife pond outside, to my surprise there is a BIG bunch of this stuff, I know that it is way too early for them. There just wont be enough food for them.

So iv'e had an idea!

Would it be possible to raise a few of them in a 7g tank?
I know nothing about them so;

what do i feed?
do they need filtration?
what else may they need?

kk any ideas etc would be really helpful, these have just come way to early and will not make it in the long run.

Thanks

I dont think its too early, I have seen frogspawn as early as late February before. But rasing them shouldnt be a problem and will defo give them a kick start.A 7 gal tank with a spong filters all thats needed.Frog tadpoles feed on alage and detritus at first so adding some pond plants an pond water should be all thats needed.

i found some spawn once when i was a kiddie i put them in a bucket and used my next door neigbours water fleas im guessing now they are daph?
i only ever saw one frog emerge but thats because after a week i got bored lol
i should think it will be fine if u actually look after them
how evere you may end up with 500 tiny frogs in there so be carful

and make sure u think about where to release them i just let mine hop out ( i was 8 gimmie a break)

i want a go ! in my 10g but i got rid of my pond as the frogs invaided it! so i might have to put a big bucket outside of water and HOPE! lol i really want some frogspawn!!

Right the weather is going to get a hell of a lot colder up here, it may even snow! do you think i should bring them all in and put them in a bucket or something?

Im in the north of scotland and have lots of frogspawn in the pond.

Why not just leave it to nature, strongest survive and all that. If you really want to help them then just take a bucket of them out and leave it in the tank until they hatch then release again

Just leave the frogspawn where it is if the top parts of the spawn are open to air fill the pond so that it is at least 1cm over it that should help prevent the top layer from being killed off by the frost, but you will probably lose alot of them by moving also most at the bottom will be infertile too but any surviving tadpoles will normally clear off the dead spawn (from my own experience) It is the right time for frogspawn too, I think I'll go check my ponds at my dads see if I have any too although they have been neglected but that doesnt stop the frogs.

I hope your frogspawn does ok.
