For some reason my frogbit is dying, yet other plants are now doing well.

Tank is rio 180 (180L) 2 x T5 45W lights, 8 hrs a day. Tank is currently cycling and processing 5ppm in 12hrs (along with help from alot of cabomba)

Dosing with 3mls of easycarbo daily, 5mls of TPN+ daily, plus adding 5ppm pure ammonia.

Its just the frogbit that is turning yellow and rotting, other plants, cabomba and Jave Fern doing well.

Is it because obviously they are right under the lights? Should I decrease the lighting time daily or dont you think this would help.

Advice appreciated.

Obviously no fish in at the moment.

Simple plant too keep (I'm not having a go by saying that BTW).

It's OK with high lighting, but perhaps seeming as its a floating plant that maybe it is too close to the lights & is getting burnt?

You seem to be doing everything else OK..

Might drop the water level then, see if that makes a differnce :)

Ha ha, cant do that, cant open top it either as there are snakeheads going in it, that would jump out.

Stop hot air accumulating between the waters surface and the frogbit stopping the leaves from burning.

Did you sort your Frogbit problems out then? I got some off here really nice stuff and it initially went in my small 5gallon UGF with Platy babies. Grew very quickly at first but then after about three weeks showed signs of deficiencies. Now transferred to Vision 180 heavily planted tank with E.I and where I expected to see a rapid recovery in growth I am not seeing this although growth is apparent... Don't think temperature is the issue however maybe they need to acclimatise to their new surroundings?

I have penned the stuff in with drinking straws atm to stop the water current subjecting the plants to varying degrees of light as they were being thrown around the aquarium rather violently lol!
