Hello! My friends betta has lost its colours dramatically I can only presume it may be stressed. We have placed two Indian almond leaves in and done a water change and added some seachem stress guard.
His eyes have also suddenly changed.. if anyone has any suggestions or answers it would be much appreciated 🥲
I have added before and after pictures of marlin.

Yes, he looks stressed to me. Have you tested the water? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, etc? Any recent changes? How long has he had him? What is the set-up? We will need more information to be able to help.

His water parameters are ammonia: 0 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 20 PH: 6.5

he has recently moved tanks but he’s been in this now for about a week and he’s been happy. His temp is at 28 degrees. We have only had him two months. He’s currently in a 24litre tank heavily planted with live plants. She cleans his tank weekly.

Hard to say what's stressing him out then. Do you have a picture of the tank? I assume the flow on the filter isn't too strong and that you're dechlorinating the water. It looks like there are some good plants in there and no stressful tank mates? Good diet?

When you say that the aquarium is cleaned weekly...just how is it "cleaned"?

Unless the aquarium that the fish was moved to was not cycled or was part way through cycling there should not be a need to deal with glass cleaning (diatoms generally appear as a part of the cycle process and very occasionally in established aquariums if the water chemistry is off due to a variety of reasons)

Substrate hoovering is weekly along with water changes....filter media should only be changed when on its last legs and falling to bits, not monthly like the manufacturers state since they are making money from selling it and the filter itself should only be rinsed along with the used media in the aquarium water that is removed during water changes (never clean filter or its media under the tap as the chlorine and other additives in tapwater will kill most if not all the good bacteria and effectively restart the cycle process by crashing it)

Over cleaning or incorrect the aquarium can crash the cycle, which in turn will affect the fish within it....often with severe effect including death.

So if you can explain the weekly cleaning routine and what is actually done, that would be a great help as it could have an impact on how the fish is behaving
