i went to work and my small bro went to knock at my friends door because his small bro and my small bro walk to school together so his friend invited my small bro in to have a look at the new fishes that they go so my bro walked in to see 1 male betta and 3 female bettas running around in the tank (even tho that my small bro is only 12 years old he know that u cant keep females and males together)

now i have told him several time that u CAN'T keep males and females together and i cant think of anything else to say to him

feel sorry for them bettas :-(

 Am i missing something??? I thought you were only NOT to keep more than one male together. I though Males and females together were ok!! How else will they breed.

I dont have any at the mo by the way just this doesnt sound right?

Please correct me if im wrong as i had a male and female together years ago and they were fine together.

from what I know, the male will have no problem killing the females if he feel he does'nt want to court them, and once spwned, the male will be very protective of the nest, and will proberly kill anything that come near it.

It depends on the Betta. Some are mellow and will float around with his harem, some will scoff and say "BREEDORDIE!" Tell him if any of them look particularly chewed up (nips are fine, it's natural) or the male is chasing the females VIOLENTLY (as in, into tank walls) remove the little bugger, or he'll have dead fish.
