Cleaning out my filter today I found a bunch of creepy crawlies in a few layers of foam. I took a few pictures, but even with my macro lens they are a little to small to really identify. The closest I could find on the net are Copepods, but they mostly seem to be in marine tanks. Here's the pic (good luck).
They were beige/whitish, seemed to move like shrimp... used their tail to push them forward (or would that make it more like a sea lion then?)
Any thoughts as to what they could be?
The 'bars' under the paper are about 1 inch apart for sizing.

If you google for images of water fleas you`ll see a lot of similarity.
