hey guys,
i was searching tropical fish finder and it came up with this guy's website who sells rare and one of a kind fish!
and as i was searching i found the Etroplus Canarensis! other wise known as the Canara Pearlspot Cichlid or the Banded Chromide.
The owner (Tom Halvorsen, based in UK) has bought the whole lot and is the only place to get these!
he says the are fully freshwater(unlike the orange and green chromide which are brakish)but they haven't been bred in captivity.
more info: Banded Chromide

I've kept orange Chromides in very hard fresh water , though not very long term about 1 and a half years , even had them spawn , the eggs hatched and the fry were eaten be tank mates :(

I may inquire about these fish , the chromides I had were great , not to big , and I like that in a cichlid  .

I'd love to have some strictly freshwater species of Chromide , they are a very under estimated fish , thanks for posting this :)

yeh, i saw some very nice looking orange chromides at the lfs yesterday, maybe when i have the money i will start a brakish tank since it is very unlikley i will get the the Banded :(

good luck with them Lucky ;)
