Seeing as a lot of the plants we buy over here (Europe) come from over there, (U.S) would it not be possible to find some in the wild and take cuttings? I have heard of excellent ludwiga specimens growing on golf courses? Honestly!

Just a thought, it may be dumb though! :)

Good idea, but probably not the smartest. Especially if growing in very public places like golf courses. The amount of chemicals used on lawns these days is far to high to risk introducing into your tank. I honestly wouldn't take any plants from the 'wild' and put in my tank. Far too many polutants in the air and water.

also its a good way to get arested! my friend went golfing and tried to get his ball out of the water and the bastards called the cops!

I could maybe send you some hornwort... It's a floating plant that grows like crazy... and it secretes chemicals that prevent algae from growing. My fish love to hide in it.
