EasyCarbo/Excel is not an algaecide and it shouldn't be thought of as such. It is a CO2 liquid additive. One side effect is that it can kil algae but can also kill some plants as well.

Much better to fight the algae naturally and use the Easycarbo/Excel as the last resort.

If you can't affor plants then don't worry too much. that Egeria/Anachris will grow pretty quick and you can nip the top few inches off every time it gets 2/3 the height of the tank and replant it. Within a matter of a month you should have a decent plantmass in there from the egeria.

I would dose ferts but not too much. With such a low plantmass doesn't mean that all the elements the plants need are already in the water. Likely thatmost will be but not all. I would dose a quality fert like TPN+ at the rate suggested on the bottle to ensure that any gaps are filled.

You may get algae at the beginning until you have topped and replanted the Egeria but after a month or so you should see results.

Im suppose to plant the plants that are floating? I thought they just floated. I didn't see any roots on them !!!!!!!

Push the bottom inch or so into the substrate and they will eventually grow roots and chor themselves. They can be used as floating plants though if preferred.

A lot of plants you get are cuttings and therefore have no roots when you get them. You have to plant them and replant them until they get anchored.
