ive had 3 tiger barbs for 2 days 2 of the tiger babrbs are fine but one is hanging around the heater/filter near the top of the tank two of it stripes have turned a shiney green is the anything wrong with this fish

Need to know ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, tank size, and temp.

Sounds like it may be a parasitic infection, velvet. Has he been scratching on things? Is he gasping for air, breathing fast, are his gills inflamed?

And btw, i prefer malibu rum instead of beer

I think they do have a greenish tint to them, what are your water stats.

i dont have test kit right now i need to buy a new one tomorrow

Take a water sample to teh LFS, or better yet buy one, they are a great investment and worth every penny. Even though they have greenish tints, an excess is worrisome, so is his behavior. Is he floating nose down right now?

i put a few flakes in and he seems to have recovered he joined th other two im going to watch it for a bit and if gets any worse ill put him in the breeding trap

I think i would preform a water change while you get your water tested.

Also, with only having 3 tiger barbs in one tank, one of the other 2 could be stronger and keeping the one in the corner. Happened to me when I first had them. Had three and one would always hide but I could see it was stressed. We all know when a fish is stressed it is more likely to get sick. If your water checks out, it is a dominance issue. If you have the room try adding at least 3 more tigers which shoud be enough to distribute aggression towards one another.

How big is your tank? Also, get your water checked before adding any more fish. If it is a water quality problem, you don't want to add more fish, which will produce more waste and add to the problem.

well its fine now its fine now 2 more quick questions though

1. i have two clown loach are tiger barbs relatd in any way mine seem to stick together

2. are they named clown loaches because they are loopy mine dart around the tank with joy constantly

1. my tiger barbs and clown loaches will stick together some times.

2. Sometimes this behavior is normal, other tiems it is out of stress. You need to get your water checked, and HOW BIG IS YOUR TANK? it is really hard to help answer questions with a partial view of what is going on in your tank.

I have the same size tank it 27 uk gals about 30 us gals, not big enough for clown loaches need room to swim, you need at least a 90gal tank.

even when there small they need alot of space.


your meant to keep atleast 4 of them, thats why there stickin with your barbs.

they want more friends!

you can tell they need space cos as you say, they dart about like crazy all the time.


mine do seem to stop everyday about 8oclock where they all gather 2geva for a rest on my big piece of rock.
