Free Aquacube ?!

Just ordered mine now just have to wounder when an who will deliver it :D

Have just phoned re subscribing by quarterly direct debit, and was told the tank is only available when doing the yearly payment. Bloke sounded a bit slow so would be worth someone checking, but doesn't look like you can get it that way unfortunately. Might try asking PFK directly, as you could still sign up for 13months just not pay it all now.

Yeah I was told the same thing - so just went ahead and did it. Makes little difference to me - and according to PKF it's £5 more expensive to do it via quarterly DD anyway.

does anyone know where they got that little stick on co2 thing that you just add tablets to ? as i want one aswell lol

ok then thanks for telling me ill do that then :good:

I signed up this morning but didnt know about the tank :( I chose to pay £11 quarterly does this mean i cant get one?

Yeh I'd wanna subcribe quarterly. Does anyone know if you still get one?

Cool thanks for letting us know. I will hopefully be able to afford it next week. :D

YAAAS! I subscribed yesterday and paid the extra £5 for the tank :D. If I'm allowed to set it up, it will be a microrasbora(maybe galaxy) and shrimp planted tank with this mini diffuser and either DIY co2 mix or this "Tetra CO2 Depot-650ml"(for £5.99). Which does anyone recommend? I would naturally rather go for whichever one is cheaper to do.
That's after I've hatched out a couple more generations of triops though  .

Also, i know that the light that comes with this tank evidently isn't very good, and I'm thinking about using Azolla or duckweed for the surface because i think it makes it look more natural-so can any one recommend any very low light plants that will be OK with this?
Failing that i wont bother with the plants on the surface, and in that case, can anyone recommend plants that will flourish with the 11w lamp?
Thanks :) .

I dunno what light everyone is planning on using. Will have to wait and see. Someone will probably find a decent light and everyone will get the same :D

I was planning the same as you, a nice small group of galaxy rasboras and maybe bumblebee shrimp. Wanted something other than amano shrimp...

I was planning on using the 11w light that comes with it, beacause im cheap. Unless there is one drasticly better than it and i can sell it to someone on the forums(cant sell on ebay anymore :( ) and pay a little extra for the good one.
I m still unsure im even going to be allowed to set the tank up permanently, although my mum is a botanist and a soon to be garden designer so maybe if i can get her to look at my copy of Amano's Nature Aquarium World book one :shifty: ;) .

Don't get that sera CO2 three-fingers its rubbish and needs filling every day, cheap but useless, get a nutrafin unit, bit more expensive but you'll so save that back in a couple of months if not less. Ive got a spare you can have cheap if you want?

Also I wouldn't get duckweed, with 11w you'll need to get as much of it into the tank a poss. But I think you could grow the usual java moss, java fern and anubias under the light.

BTW if/when I get one of these tanks I will get a single PC T5 bulb, prob a 36w or 55w bulb and bodge together some sort of stand that incorporates a reflector as well. That should give plenty of light to get things going!

I wasn't planning on it ;) (i think your talking about those crazy fizzing tablets they show in the video for the free tank, which seemed abit impractical anyway). I was either going to use that tetra co2 thingy(dunno how effective/cost effective that would be, but it would be simpler) or make my own diy system and use them with the "aqua mini diffuser".

Ive been looking at low light plants, and for-leaf clover sounds good, since most sites list it as low-medium lighting. Anyone got this plant? I would probably buy all my plants from that site, four leaf clover, a center piece of java fern on bog wood(java fern seems OK with low light IME), either duckweed or azolla or an other floating plant i cant remember the name of because i think this will look nice and i will have less problems with algae and a moss ball to keep the algae away and for the shrimp to browse on.

Im also thinking of making a diy spraybar for the filter and possibly a net type thing to contain the floating plant so a little extra light can get to the java fern.

Substrate wise the tetra stuff because its cheap and sand on top. Or a mix of garden compost and sand.

Any suggesttions? :)

After deciding to use the money that would've been used on my PC Gamer re-subscription(which is coming up around December time, it's getting a bit samey now, I'll buy it in stores if it's an issue that interests me)so now it's ordered and has been a few days ago.

I'm hoping to stick to the same step-by-step PFK did but I'll put in a Dwarf Puffer so I'll need to replace the gravel with grass. Also some plants may not do as well in the sand so I may need to replace them.

Also Dwarf Puffer are from Asia(I think, I'm not one hundred percent sure)so I may need to get plants mainly from asia. Might take advantage of the PlantsAlive PFK discount.
