Free Ammonia Testing

My tap water has both free and combined ammonia in it. So when I test with my current test kits (API strips and master kit with vials) my aquarium water shows high ammonia because it does not distinguish between the two. I need a test kit that shows only free ammonia levels. Who makes such a test kit and from where can I buy it?

You can use a calculator to work out the amount of both ammonia and ammonium. The amounts in each form vary with temperature and pH.

Enter the combined ammonia reading from your tester, the pH and temperature of the tank water and set salinity to zero. The box "NH3 concentration" will tell you how much is in the ammonia form.
