Could I put any fishies in here? It holds 19 gallons and water comes out of the girls shell. There would only be two fake floating lilly pads on top of the water and nothing else. Would any fish be happy in here? I was thinking a few feeders because it would be better then being eaten!

As long as it isn't made out of something toxic and it dosen't get too hot/cold I dont see why a goldfish or perhaps betta wouldn't love it. How deep is it?

ALASKA

Does it have a filter? Or is it just a pump that circulates the water? Because if it doesn't have a filter, you'd need to add one. Goldfish are incredibly messy, so it would be hard to keep clean without one. Maybe even hard with one! -_- :dunno:

It's got a 26 inch diameter and it's 8 inches tall. No filter.... My mom doesn't want it gooped up. What about white clouds?

White clouds and Danios would be ok as they can live in very cold water.

Mine are ok in the outdoors and this is the uk.

A weather loach and Butterfly Plecs do well also.

You could keep a betta, but as you are viewing from above no displays would be seen.

If you get danios, get Zebra Danios. When they mature they deveop a large Hump on the top of their head if kept outdoors.

When you shine a small torch @ the water at night. It will look as if lots of little lights are darting across the waters edge.

You could also Try Surface feeder fish, I have tried Guppies outdoors with some success.

where does the water get sucked in to be spat back out of the shell... might wanna make sure no fish get sucked in and go for a ride :S :/

I'm still a bit concerned about the filtration issue, though perhaps you've thought through that. If she doesn't want it "gooped up", what does she think will happen without a filter?? -_- It's gonna get pretty scummy at the bottom from all the fish waste, and I would hate to see that beautiful pattern covered up! How would you clean it? Gravel vaccuum? That just seems like an awful lot of work, but it's up to you!! Just remember all you're going to be seeing is the tops of these fish... long finned zebra danios might be nice - they look gorgeous from above, like flying fish. :p

maybe some upside down catfish lol lol ..... :D

yea i donno about fish in there.... maybe some sort of frog ?

I would go with the White Clouds, maybe a dozen or so!

I personally don't think you'd need a filter as long as you vaccuumed the bottom once a week ;) But I would put an airstone in there. The tubing is clear so you could just get one of those little round airstones and it wouldn't take away from that GORGEOUS pattern any!

My only concern would be, if it's outside, other animals hopping up there, or birds?? Maybe keep the water line a couple of inches away from the top.

Good Luck!!!

Well no birds would come in the yard because the cats chase them away and no cats would come that close to the door because the dogs would scare them away. Plus it is in a fenced in little garden area so the dogs can't get a drink :D

I would vacuume it out twice a week and do water changes like a regular tank. The pump is behind her feet in a box that the fish CANNOT get into... I made sure that was the case before I even thought about fishies.

I have zebras in my 18 gallon so I wanted to look at something a little different. I've been reading up on white clouds and it says the do better in 50's while zebras do better in 60's so I'm gonna get some white clouds. My mom want's goldfish so she can see them better but I'll just explain it will get too dirty. I also told her they get too big and she's all not for a long time!!! Lol, she doesn't get it.

I don't think there would be a need for an air pump because the fountain pump airates the water pleanty.
