I would not like to have to clean it out, how would you be able to rach the bottom? However Hight wise it is perfect

i ahve seen UGF's for hex tanks..

but UGF's are nothing but a pain.

the thing with hex tanks is their is less surface area, which means less stocking, and less territory for your fish.
so say its a 60, itd actually be alot less stocking wise.

Good luck

I hated my hex. It was a royal pain to clean. I am not tall, and it was difficult to get my hand down there to clean it. I also agree that UGFs are a pain, especially if the tank is going to be planted. Sorry to rain on your parade. I hope you have a nice time with yours if you already purchased it. :)

Well I am a tall enough person with the help of a stool I think I could reach to the bottom with a little more work than a normal tank but it would work.. Hey would a fluval(canister filter) be toooo much for a hex??

Get an external power filter for the tank - there's no such thing as too much filtration and, with altums, you want the best water quality possible. Make sure the tank is cycled and quite mature before you put the angels in. Plant it heavily if you want to make them feel more comfortable with some peices of driftwood and only a thin layer of gravel or sand (to keep things from falling in between and rotting or pockets of toxic gas getting trapped). It should be deep enough for some altums but, TBH, a longer tank would have been better. It's up to you whether you choose to give up the altum idea in favour of something more suitable or not so I won't go there now. I'm sure you are mature enough to make the right descision. Also, get 4 of the angels as they should be kept in a group as juveniles. If they do pair up once mature, return 2 of them to leave the pair with some extra room. If you aren't prepaired to do this, forget them altogether. Please, rather than asking lots of endless questions over and over again on this forum, search www.google.com for information yourself. Like I said in another thread, discus have similar requirements and there is lots and lots of information on them out there. If you cannot research these fish thoroughly yourself, you are not ready for them. Like everyone has said time and time again, they are a very sensitive specialist's fish and, being wild-caught, need you to duplicate their natural environment precisely. If you aren't 100% confident in your abilities, go for a group of ordinary angels - there are a few that look very similar to altums (but are so much hardier) or you could go for a few koi angels (which I think you like) as well. There are so many varieties of scalare angels (the common ones) and you could have a mixture of them rather than just having 4 altums. If you went for normal angels you wouldn't even have to worry about lowering the pH or having a realy high temperature. That way you could choose some tankmates for them as well - larger tetras, livebearers, catfish, some gouramies etc - and create a lovely large angel community tank. Remember, you could always try altums in the future.

sorry for asking questions so many times it is just I trust your guys personal experence than google.... :*) Sorry for sounding like a parrot at times it just seems that a person who has had personal experence with these fish and this hex tank seems more reliable than google to give good advice. :) I looked at the hex tank again and it was 2 feet long..... I couldn't get away with having altums in there you think?
