so yesterday afternoon i went on a walk in the forest at my university and stumbled upon a stream. guess where that stream led to? to a concrete pond full of goldfish and koi! there was so many goldies (egg-laden ones too) that they must have bred a bunch.
anyways, it was an awesome sight, something very pleasant to find in the woods.

my question is, there was no plants and such, so what is it that these fish eat? could something be feeding them or can they manage without? there was a couple foot long koi in there as well, so they must be eating something if they are that big.

Insects, etc. that fall into the water and if there's a stream leading into the pond all sorts of grubs & larvae will be washed into it.

i'm sure the pond (and the stream also) are manmade. i just can't figure out who and if they would even bother to walk all that way to feed those fish.

They might have a caretaker who feeds them. Of course, you could go over there with a tad bit of food and enjoy yourself the sight. Are there banches around the pond?

Loonies like us would walk all that way to feed those fish :fun:

The owner or the caretaker of the pond probably drives a golf cart to get there to feed the fish.
