Have just noticed a foreign body (Looks like a parasite of some description) behind one of my Blue Acara`s fin. Its about the size of a pin head and looks completely round and an off colour white (creamy). Photo`s attached.
It occasionally flicks itself against any rocks or plants.

Any Ideas what it could be?
What should, if any, can it be treated with? Have not got a quarantine/hospital tank until next weekend.

Tank size: 30g
pH:7.2
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:25
kH:6
gH:>10
tank temp:77f

Water changes every week, about 20%.

Also in the tank: 3 x Rams, 1 x Krib, 1 x Clown Plec, 1 x Bristlenose. Not showing any signs of parasite.

Somewhat camera shy!!!

At first I thought that was a joke. Very good link though.

I cannot see any legs. It has been on the fish sinse the day I bought it, thought it was a gland of some sort.
It doesn`t look flat, it looks completely round like a tiny polystyrene ball about 1mm diameter.
Not sure I could do the suggestion of removal by hand!!!

Wouldn't remove it till you find what type of parasite it is as they can do alot of damage trying to remove them.
Hard to say which parasite it is.

Could be some sort of skin tumour. If it hasnt moved then it doesnt suggest a parasite.
Maybe its cauliflower disease where lumps grow on the skin and are unevenly shaped and look like a cauliflower.

Have got no intention of removing it. How would be the best way to get a diagnosis, I could take the fish to my Lfs, not sure what they could do, could it be worth a call or is there something I could use to treat it. The fish does not seem to be in much distress at the moment just the occasinal flick. if it turns out to be a tumor is it treatable.

No the ball does not appear to be moving.

Definately not a cluster. But does look a lot like the lump on the Green Betta.

If the ball not moving its not a parasite.
Can you issolate the fish and try a bacterial med.

The only way to completely tell if it is not moving is to physically touch it. Unfortunately I have not got an isolation tank until next weekend.

When i say it hasn`t moved, It hasn`t moved sinse Friday whan I got the fish.

Totally unrelated, are you experiencing problems with the Forums server as I am struggeling to post and browse.

Yes the site been a pain for me for two days, and my computor broke now as I switched it off at the back and it blown its psu.
So now i'm on my sons computor and the site still playing up at times.
If the ball not moving around all I can say to do at this moment is try a bacterial med.

OK, Can the Med be administerd to the whole take as it is, obviously I will need to remove the carbon filter (maybe, depending on which med)
What Med would you recomend?

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet, or waterlfie myxazin.
If it is a tumour it won't cure it i'm afraid, but at least it's worth a try.
Good luck.

Bless him, good luck gooner, watch for any changing in the ball growth even colour.
