Hey everyone, so I posted a thread about my plant plan and am stuck for ideas for foreground. I wanted another nice carpeting plant to go with the Sagittaria. I was originally going for java moss, but a couple of people told me it wouldn't work.

So if someone could let me know if they have any suggestions that would be great.

Hope you can help and thanks in advance :)
Don't really like dwarf hairgrass by the way, it gets stuck in my filter. :/

If you have high enough light dwarf baby tears carpet really densely, I've never grown them but I hear they can be a bit finicky

Dwarf baby tears is hemianthus callitrichoides (HC / Cuba) isn't it?  That's classified as a more demanding plant from what I understand.  I am trying out staurogyne repens and pogostemon helferi as foreground plants in my new tank.

Marsilea  hirsuta isn't as demanding as others of that shape. I am currently growing glossostigma elatinoides in a low tech/soil tank and it seems to grow fine. The other one that may work but depends on conditions as well is hydrocotyle tripartita.

Snazy's list were the ones that sprang to mind.

Staurogyne repens and pogostemon helferi are lovely plants, but a little bit taller. Depends on how you want the carpet to look really.

Aw now I really want to try marsilea hirsuta and hydrocotyle!  I didn't spot those when I was researching my plants.

I have a rock arrangement that I'd like to cover with trailing plants and I was planning to try micromanthemum umbrosum but hydrocotyle looks like it might be a better bet.

I was too scared to try glosso since it supposedly has the same CO2 requirements as HC.

Dwarf hairgrass? Maybe? I had tried marsilea before. Great plant and not as demanding. Unfortunately sold it as a "designer" tank.Do you have CO2?

i don't have co2, I said in my post I wouldn't really like dwarf hairgrass because it gets stuck in my filter. Thank you all for the replies, I'll have a proper read through them and look up the plants. I'll post back what I think is the best suggestion so far. :)

I liked the look of staurogyne repens, but it said on the tropica website it likes doses of co2. I really like the pogostemon helferi, it seems hardy and different, can't believe i haven't heard of it before! It doesn't matter if it grows a little taller, I could just trim it to the length that I want. I also liked the look of marsilea hirsuta, but it also said it likes co2. Hydrocotyle seems okay...just not sure about it for some reason. Dwarf baby tears look a little too demanding for me, as you guys said.

So it looks like pogostemon helferi is the winner so far then. Keep it coming with suggestions though! ;)

Once again, thank you for all the replies so far! :)
