hey,

i have 2 peppered cories and id like to give them a bit more of a varied diet.
I was just wondering if any1 on here could recommend anything out of the kitchen for them.
I have tried cucumber but they werent too keen.
Cheers

Mine like peas, chicken but only a very small amount now and then, bread the same only now and then, they will almost eat any thing really.

Corys love worms- you can feed earthworms from yard/garden as long as the ground isnt treated w/ pesticides etc. They love frozen bloodworms, live blackworms or redworms. You can feed shrimp pellets or earthworm sticks. They are not real big on veggies.

Hi The Sandman :)

For the most part you are better off feeding them a good quality flake food, algae wafers or spirulina discs, live, freeze dried or frozen worms. These things alone will make them healthy and happy.

While something like peas or bits of fresh shrimp or fish might not hurt them, if fed once in a while for a treat, I would not recommend much else.

It's especially important to avoid feeding them anything that contains salt or any kind of fat. These things, and any synthetic food dyes or preservatives, are not part of their natural diet and should be avoided. :D

Thanks TwoTank will dig sum up in a bit, is there anything special i should do to them before goin into my tank?

Thanks also for the informative advice fish lady, much appreciated.

I feed Hikari Tropical Sinking Wafers, they're especially designed for Catfish, loaches, and Bottom Feeders. Btw you should consider atleast getting 2 more cory catz :p

When feeding live, rinse before feeding. Larger worms can be cut up to me bade small enough.

When feeding frozen, put frozen food into small strainer and run under room temp water to defrost and get out any staining you don't want in the tank.

If ither tankmates will also bottom feed, wait til lights out to drop in the food for the corys.
