I have a question posted in the hardware section with no response yet.

There must be people out there using this filter who maybe don't read the hardware section. Can anyone tell me if their filter doesn't pull in dirt /debris floating past or am i the only one that has a problem with it not doing this effectively? As my other post says, water only seems to be forced top to bottom or bottom to top through the biomax core so no great suction pulling dirt into the foam filter sides.

Cheers

My internal never really dealt with debris/leaves etc either..only incredibley fine particles. Best bet is gravel vaccing,or an external (even with an external you get debris moving round the tank and not getting sucked up the filter intake

I don't get a lot of detritus normally, i had was just cleaning the tank and this led me to notice how inefective the filter was at pulling suspended dirt in which was literally just an inch from it. Any more flow around the tank and the plants would be knocked over but the flow doesn't seem to be created through the filter sponges, more through the "outlet /inlet" pipes which switch direction depending on which setting you use.

There really doesn't seem to be any obvious mechanism for creating a good flow of water through the sponges in this filter.
