I have a fluval U2 filter for sale, it's maybe 6months old.
It's too powerful for my 60l tank so I'd be happy to swap for a Fluval U1 filter. Please make me an offer if my price is out

Equipment make/model/size : Fluval U2 Filter
Quantity for sale: 1
Reason for Sale: Too big for my tank
Delivery or Collection: I can post or collection in the Isle of Wight
Sales price: £18
Postage & Packaging: £2
Location: IOW

The U2 is designed for tanks of 60l or even a bit less... Have you tried using mode "b" that spreads the flow through the whole height of the filter?

I've tried it on all the settings. When I turn it off for water changes, I can see the fish relax and swim around normally, as soon as I turn it back on their fins go clamped straight away and they look stressed and barely swim around.
The water quality is fine so I can only assume it's the filter they don't like. I think it's the intake speed rather than the output flow.

Hmm, curious... What fish species?

Another thing worth mentioning is that the U series filters are designed to be able to place them horizontally in the tank, so you could do mode "b" with the outputs acting like a spraybar just below the water surface.

You could just reduce the flow slightly?? Most fish love playing in the current, what are the species you keep?

There's just 3 platys, 2 corys and 2 otos. The otos and corys don't seem affected. Just the platys who seem stressed.
The B vents are positioned so the water is sprayed onto the side of the tank.
When the platys stop swimming they start drifting towards the filter which makes me think the intake is too strong, rather than they being buffeted around by the output flow.

does it all work fine ?

Yes I've only had it maybe 6months so it's still works fine. No problems with it.

is it coming with media ? if you still have it when i come home tonight at about 9/10 i will more than likely take it

Not sure about media, I'll have a look to see what cartridges are in there and if i can use anything out of it to put in my new filter. What I don't need will be included.

Filter still for sale, comes with the media.
