Hi
I have been looking at the fluval roma 200l with fluval u4 internal filter, with cabinet £269
would like to know if you can help me with the following, here goes
1)the filter has a turnover of 1000L an hour,is this enough?
2)if not can i add an external without any problems,i,e,cutting hood,
3)would it be better discarding the internal filter and buying an external(as the internal is in with the price seapets)
4)if i buy an external what one would you reccomend?
and finally you know of anywhere i can purchase the above tank with my own choice of external filter as a package,
i am in the west midlands uk
thanks.

Hi
I have been looking at the fluval roma 200l with fluval u4 internal filter, with cabinet £269
would like to know if you can help me with the following, here goes
1)the filter has a turnover of 1000L an hour,is this enough? Should be, but always take into account that the rating is without media, just the motor on its own. Most people with a tank of that size prefer some of the larger externals, eheim are some of the best.
2)if not can i add an external without any problems,i,e,cutting hood, I believe you should be able to, there are slots at the back of the hood if I remember correctly.
3)would it be better discarding the internal filter and buying an external(as the internal is in with the price seapets). Matter of choice, I prefer externals but that doesn't mean you will.
4)if i buy an external what one would you reccomend? Eheim eheim eheim eheim!!!
and finally you know of anywhere i can purchase the above tank with my own choice of external filter as a package,

thanks.

I do believe the internal filter comes with it directly from Hagen, so no ability to change it, unless you find it second hand.

Hi festo,

I was in similar situation a week ago. I got my fluval roma 200 from Maidenhead Aquatics in Wembley (store locator on http://www.fishkeeper.co.uk). I'm sure they've got shop somewhere near you. The tank came with fluval u4 filter but they kindly allowed me to swap it for external fluval 305 filter and pay the difference. I did that because my two goldfish are very dirty and also it takes much less space inside the tank. If you get the tank together with the cabinet you can hide the filter nicely.

I will not try to answer your questions as I'm a newbie but I would say go for the external one and preferably 305.

Cheers,

thanks for replies but which eheim?
and how do you find the external 305?

I got my Fluval 305 filter from the same shop as tank or try google I guess.

Sorry. I have been running it for 5 days and can't complaint. It's very quiet to my surprise and seems to be dealing with cloudy water quite well so far. I've just started fishless cycle so can say much about the performance though. As far as I can see maintenance should be easy as well. Problem I had with internal filter in my smaller tank is that you have to remove it completely from time to time and wash it in the bucket whereas this one you just unplug two pipes and you can move it freely.

Cheers,
