Fluval Edge

Hi everyone,

Hopefully the picture will work... but i have got a fluval edge with 5 neons which have been happy in there for the last 7 or 8 months, the tank is full of plants and the neons seem to love playing hide and seek.

Now my decision is do i leave it how it is, or do i add anything else?

I was thinking maybe a couple of shrimp but i dont want them to breed and take over the tank or maybe a couple more tetra's.

Cant really decide for i am opening up to the floor.

Any views or comments more than welcome.

I think going with the shrimp was an excellant idea! som nice black and white or red and white shrimplets would be nice and they help clean.

TBH I kept the algae (amano/yamato) shrimp on sand in an edge tank and it was a nightmare, they poop so much!!! The small shrimp would look great

Could try a few Microrasbora though...

personally i would up the neons. they look great and are happier in a larger shoal...up to you though!!

get some shrimp! can you get same sex ones to stop them overtaking the tank? (not sure how easy that is) but i do know shrimp are great

I would strongly suggest getting 2 or 3 more neons, as they like to be in a large group - in the wild, they would live in a group of hundreds.

Shrimps don't add significantly to bioload, so you could get a group of 5/6 happily. My personaly favourites are Crystal Reds, but Red Cherries are nice too, and a bit easier to keep. Whatever shrimp you get, they are all susecptible to dodgy water, so you must keep up a good maintenance regime.
