Hi Peeps, I am a first timer wanting some guidance. I have bought my fist aquarium in 27 years for my son who loves fish. So I'll run through what i've got and what I plan to stock. Feedback would be appreciated, and hopefully my rusty aquarist knowledge has not lead me into disaster.
What I've got:
Fluval Edge (UK 5 gallon) tank
Zen tank ornament
MR16 12v LED - White bulb upgrade
Fluval CO2 20
Fluval 25w heater (hoping it works!)
Tetra APS 50 additional pump
2x small (10x25mm) airstones & tubing
Shrimp substrate (for the main tank)
Laterite & gravel substrate (to go in the Zen planters)
The plan:
I want a couple of small ornaments (?rocks, driftwood...) which my son will pick. I will then stock the tank with lots of live plants, any suggestions? I will cycle the tank with plants then do my water testing (No fish yet). I then want to get three Guppys (?male) When they're settled in (hopefully not dead) I want three Ghost Shrimp. Then I would like to add three more small fish (?Green Neons, Microrasboras...).
Hopefully the plan so far is sound. Not sure what timings to put the lights, CO2 and air stones on, any ideas? The tank will be in a quiet, well lit, but out of direct sun, corner off the living room on a solid table.
Will it work? Have I missed anything? What timings should I put my pumps etc. on?
