Hi all i am new to this and i purchases a fluval spec a while ago but still never got it going going to fishless cycle it this week when have time for a shrimp tank but i also love the fluval edge aquarium the 6 gallon one does anyone own one and are they decent ? i have watched loads or reviews and many ppl happy with them and they look great, i cannot have a large tank as no room, i am hoping to get into this hobby as i love the beautiful planted tanks ppl have. is there a good sand substrate i could use and will the plants grow well init, also the new fluval edge 6 gallon comes with 21 LED lights instead of the bulbs are these good enough to support plants or will i have to buy more ? the new tank with the 21 LEDs is around £100 but the old style with bulb (you can upgrade the bulbs) is around £70 what do u think

Any help would be Great tanks

I have just set up a fluval edge, only got a few cherry shrimp in at the minute but will add more later. I too have the led version and the lighting doesn't look to bad. I only have a few low light plants in it but I think they should do alright.
I love the look of these little tanks.

is there any other modern looking tanks like these u would sugest ? love the minimilist look of these and its a kit so no need to purchase anything like filters only a heater i would need

thanks Dean

Dymax iq5 dont know... how many litres is the one you are looking at?

I have an original Edge.
It's a great looking tank, but has it's drawbacks.
As it's so small, you're very limited as to the fish you can have.
It's also tricky to keep clean as it only has a small opening at the top.
The new one would be even harder to keep clean as it's much taller & still has that very small opening.

yeah i dont like the look of the larger tank its too large for mmy house anyway, thanks for the help

I love the look of my fluval edge :) although it has the drawbacks as stated above (ie.. difficult to clean, and limited stock etc).. Its not too bad.. you only need 4 small buckets to fill it :) so it takes less time for water changes meaning more time to fiddle about cleaning it lol :)

I think if its all you have space for .. its worth it :) just make sure you read up and take advice on what fish are suitable for it :) :good:

another thing i dont really kike is the filter... its too small for me!
