My newly set up Fluval Edge (plants but no fish yet of course) gathers fine bubbles under the top glass in the middle in front of the hole. Tanks I've seen in shops don't seem to have this problem. I can sweep the bubbles into the hole but they soon build up again. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

this happens with new set ups, they normally get all over decor, heaters etc etc. they will go in time dont worry. the ones in the shops will have been set up a while and showing no bubbles as you stated :good: its something to do with the gases in the water  im sure someone will explain better a bit more detailed.....

Use a magnetic algae cleaner............ go to the top of the forum and use the "members" search. look for jennybugs and look thru her topics.. taken to the egde or something like that.. she explains with great deatil how to get rid of them

Did you find my thread? :D

I put a bit of filter sponge in the outflow that falls into the tank and this stops the little bubbles forming when the water hits the surface after leaving the HOB filter. It works but you just need to remember to clean the sponge out regularly otherwise it gets quite manky

Hi, Yes I read most of your threads carefully, thanks. Great info! The bubble problem is diminishing as the tank settles and it helps to keep the water level high. Good idea about the sponge in the outlet though.

Did you have any problems with filter noise in the Edge tank? Mine is OK if I run it without the filter lid. That seems to amplify the motor noise a bit.

Hi,

It may be that the vibrations from your pump are being amplified by the desk or cabinet that the tank sits on.

Try putting a cheap black mouse mat or something similar under the base of the tank to dampen any vibrations.

Otherwise leave the lid off the filter, as long as it doesn't effect how well it functions.

Plecc.

I had this problem a few weeks ago when I set my fluval edge up using the algae magnet will get rid of them if u guide them to the opening, the floaty 2 algae magnet is probz best for this tank coz if u drop the magnet in the middle of the tank ur gonna have to take water out to get to it I found that filling the tank just above the opening and putting the filter of the lowest setting stopped bubbles for getting under the glass but the bubbles do collect in the opening but at least you won't see them with the lid on
