After a bit of a disastrous start with this tank, I am unsure what I am going to do going forward. My thinking is that I will end up getting a bigger tank as this tank is not practical to clean or big enough for the type of fish I like.

I was looking for some suggestions for what could comfortably be stocked in this type of tank?

At the moment I have 2 cardinal tetras (the rest died) and as I am now aware that the tank is not an ideal size for them I am trying to see if once they are well I can rehome them. This may not be possible though in which case, I will look into a bigger tank and move them into here with some more cardinal tetras. I would still like to keep the Fluval Edge tank though but I have no idea what would do well in this tank as the shop's advice has been awful so far.

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?
What is the GH and pH of the water?

You might be able to put some small rainbowfish (Pseudomugils or Iriatherina werneri) in the tank or possibly some killifish (Epiplaty or Aphyosemium sp). Pygmy Corydoras, Ember tetras, Sparkling or Licorice gouramis.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with your fish and advice provided. The fluval edge is a really attractive modern looking fish tank. However this tank is not a user friendly one. Due to limited tank access I did not purchase this, the thought of not being able to remove the lid and having such a small area of access was enough to put me of. I imagine this must be extremely difficult to clean, I agree with Colin’s advice. I would not recommend sensitive fish for this tank or fish that need a lot of attention. Good luck.

Hi Colin,

The dimensions of the tank are 43cm x 26cm x 70cm.

PH is around 6.4 I'm not sure of hardness in figures. The JBL test strips show it as being in the second row if that makes sense (1 red square and 3 green).

Thanks
Amanda

The dimensions are close to those for a basic 10 gallon tank (46 liters is 12 gallons US). With your likely soft water (the pH is slightly acidic which suggests softish water but you need to confirm this, check your local water authority's website) you will have several options. Many of the nano fish are soft water species, like the dwarf rasboras, Ember tetras, some of the rainbowfish, etc.
