Fluval Deep 1200

I have just brought myself a fluval deep 1200 intended for mbuna , I have about 40 pound of ocean rock to go in my only concern is the bottom of the tank is not supported ( think its called a floating base ) and on the box it says not to use polystrene under the tank , can anyone see any problems with this i know a few of you have the same tank.

I use egg crate under my rock, atleast anything over 10 lbs

covered nicely by sand

i have eggcrate for the bottom its just that my old tank had all the sides resting on the bottom glass where as this one has the sides glued around the bottom

I also have the same tank and have alot of rock with no extra support so does Ferris but i'm not sure if he has any eggcrate or simalar objects.

i do too with no support.


jus make sure you put the rocks on the bottom of the tank and not on top of the substrate.


cichlids dig and if they get under your rocks then its not gonna be good.

one last thing is there any problem with the tank bowing without braces like the juwel tanks

Never had either problem and mine has been running for just over 3 years.
