Fluval 405 Foam

Fluval 405 foam , is that just normal foam or special as its expensive.

Could i just buy i large piece of standard foam and cut it up.

As long as it's proper filter foam (some household ones have a fire retardant in them) it'll be fine; just don't cut it too small, or the water will track arund the edges, rather than going through

Hi,

I use the large sheets of pond-filter sponge which is available at pretty much all fish/pond shops I have been too. All you need to do is cut it in to the required sizes, and wash it in a bucket of your aquarium water and it works a treat.
