does anyone have one of these?? just got a ferplast caymen 80 aquarium, with these set ups the heater & pump are pre installed so theres only 1 plug coming out of the unit, this works the lights (which are on a timer) the pump & heater, no spaghetti at the back!! great idea but the pump does not work, i have took the lid apart & am in the electrics, so what i want to know is how many wires are coming out of the fluval3? ( it hasn't arrived yet so don't know) hopefully there is only 2, blue & brown, can anyone confirm this please? then i can just wire it in to the lid & carry on with the 1 plug, thanks in advance :hyper:

The problem with those is that if one thing tops working, you have to replace everything. I had a 5 gallon that the light was built into the hood. When the light shorted out, I to make a new top and buy a light to set on it. The concept is good but they definitely have a down side. As for the fluval, it will have a wall plug, not naked wires.

i understand that it will come with a plug, just wondering if it was earthed

None of the filters/powerheads(including fluvals) i`ve worked on have been earthed, so you can say its a safe bet yours will be the same

cheers ian thats what i was wondering, i can wire it in to the lid now, thanks again m8

Know nothing about electricity except it don't go well with water. By earthed, do you mean grounded? This could be the thing I learn new today and I can stop trying to learn anything else and just go to bed.
