I have a Fluval 3 Plus Underwater Filter.

The power is good but the bubbles keep going and its hard to get them back.

I just cleaned my filter and put it back into the tank. I had bubbles for a bit then they went.

I did take it back to the shop. They said try putting a bit of sponge where the screw goes in. Try this it made no diffence.

Any ideas.

Do you mean bubbles mixed with the water coming out? If so, they are not needed. If you want them pariticularly though, make sure the venturi valve is above the water.

you mean bubbles coming out of the blue nozzle at the top? It's normal not to have any there. The only spit a few bubbles out when there is air in the filter, after it has expelled the air, there will be no bubbles.

If you want the bubbles for aireation, then surface movement is better for oxygenation. Try fitting a spray bar to your filter, and placing the bar just below the waterline. This will create a more natural effect of a stream, or river, and will aeriate better than a bubbler :good:

Before I cleaned the filter, the bubbles were coming out fine. I just cann't understand it.

I dont no if relvant, but i only put the filter in the tank two weeks a go, this is the first time a gave it a clean.

I took it out a few months a go because of the lost of bubbles issue. I brought a new interpet filter. But I have lost 3 fish, which had become caught inside the filter. so i put the fluval filter back in.

I wanted there to be bubbles to help with the oxygen in the rather hot weather we have at the moment.

Thanks for your responses.

The bubbles won't help oxygenation very much, as long as you have a lot of surface agitation from the filter, you'll be fine.

I have the same filter, and it did the same thing - when I first got it - bubbles all of the time. After about a month or so, no more bubbles. It has suddenly started with the bubbles again (it is a year old now) but now it is not working after I switch it off - if I switch it off for any reason (e.g. cleaning or replanting plants the little scamps have pulled up) it won't go again when I switch it back on again. So far a combination of shaking it/taking it apart and putting it back together again/telling it off seems to get it going again.

thats odd. Whenever i want bubbles i put the black venturi air thing on the top and i get bubbles!

Make sure you have the black thing above the water.
You can twist the grey nozzle on top of the black thing to get bubbles flowing again.

Also, As the filter accumulates dirt, it will slow down, this may reduce the amount of bubbles in the filter.

I no longer use the bubble thing since i see no point.
