I have a Fluval 207 - about 4 months old (my 2nd one).

Upon starting, after cleaning, everything generally appears well. It fills with water when the vacuum is released, can hear it filling up. Move it side to side a little to get any remaining air through.

Turn it on, it pushes some last bits of air through, flow rate is great - all good.

Then over a few hours, the grumbling noise from the head unit slowly gets worse, until the flow rate is almost gone, and your left with a crunching grumbling kind of noise.

The impeller is intact, clean, as is the housing it slots into. O ring is lubed around motor head unit, aqua stop value appears to be working correctly from what I can tell.

It's as though air is slowly creeping into the head unit or impeller area over a few hours, causing the flow rate to drop and the noise is increase (as I assume its running more dry over time).

I can't find any evidence of air getting in though?

Air must be getting in through a connection somewhere.
