My filter is blowing bubbles. It hasn't done it this much before - it usually doesn't do it at all - and it has me really worried. I have to be up very early, and only until 6.am-7am in the morning to fix this situation, and it'll be a big rush. There's no way I can get a new filter within at least a week, and no one to help out. Is it just air trapped, or is there a serious problem?

If its blowing bubbles then its still pumping. More than likely trapped air. Rock it from side to side, turn it off and on a few times. When you clean your sponges, only ever squeeze them underwater, otherwise there's a possibility of it "sucking in" air.

It was the twisting top that remains out of the water - I'd loosened it by accident. I've never messed with it, but apparently if it's loosened, it forcefully blows bubbles out of the filter. Now, I'm not entirely sure whether it's better or not - it seemed more forceful, so perhaps it's cycling more water in that state. I hope I didn't turn the flow down too much...and I hope that it isn't better for it to be blowing bubbles like that as I won't be able to mess around with it over the next week.
