T technium Fish Crazy Joined Feb 12, 2004 Messages 360 Reaction score 0 Location Weymouth Dorset UK Nov 23, 2004 #2 I asked the same thing from my lfs some time ago, they said if your tube is lower wattage than the unit then your tubes wont last as long and if your tube is higher wattage then unit it may not burn as bright. not sure if its true but thought I would help.
