My Betta begun to show signs finrot about a week ago and they were receeding quite slowly. I am treating him with melafix and at first they appeared to be looking better. When i woke up today all his fins are covered in what looks like small amounts of cotton wool. Is this still finrot? should i try a different medication? All the water stats were fine this morning, although now the water looks cloudy and i added a filter for him. Was going to do a water change but im in the middle of treating, so what do you think?

Please help me

Ok. ill ad pictures to try and get some response. Someone out there must have seen this before!

This is a week ago

It all cleared up and this is today

The only thing i can think about is the fact that i did a water change yesterday. It was 7 days after i started the treatment, so the instructions say to do one. He lives without a filter and it started to get a bit grotty in there.

Should i add salt? Can i use cooking salt? My fish shop will be closed now.

Thread hijack - but I'm currently treating columnaris and using myxazin.

Wilder you mention myxazin and pimafix - is it ok to mix the two - and if so are there any special instructions or is it simply follow the instructions for both treatments but dose at the same time???

Thanks

Yes mixing both meds is fine.
Follow the meds instuctions.
Good luck.
Don't forget to increase aeration in the tank.

Tempura died last night, i suppose i was too late :(. The label says that melafix would work for fin and tail rot, but i suppose not. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes.

Thanks anyway
