Been doing some reading on Flourish Excel product, sounds good as I do not really want to mess with Co2. However, is this product used as a stand alone or do you add other plant feeds with it? Thanks.

It can used on its own yes as its just a supplement of Co2. But Plants need alot more than just this. Do you have any other ferts in your tank for the plants such as Tabs in the gravel ?

Also what plants do you have in your tank as plants vary on what they require. Root feeders need ferts in the gravel and stem plants will pull ferts from the water.

If you can supply a little more information on your tank and plants it would help us a little.

Cheers

I currently use the Waterlife plant feed (Tropiflora I think), plants grow slowly and some are covered in algae. I have recently reduced lighting hours from 10 down to 8, which seems to help. Plant species - added some Vallis recenlty but not sure on the other types - will need to take a photo.

Thank you.

What's the tank volume and how many watts of light are over it? And what kind of bulbs?

Tropiflora to my knowledge contains no N or P, so I'd avoid it, find a good fertiliser, with the light you have you may not even require it if you reduce your photo period and resolve what is causing the algae, which could be the limited nutrients.
