Having totally overdosed on a different fert that caused no end of algea problems (DOH... lesson learnt!) I have decided to get some Flourish Excel to add some CO2 and combat the algea a bit. I cant afford a pressurised CO" system just yet and the DIY kits wont support a tank of 100L plus. So.... in a Trigon 190 with about 160/170L of water what dosage and how often would you use the Flourish Excel? I would say the tank is medium planted with mainly fairly hardy plants e.g Java fern, Java moss, Anubias, Vallis (they all seem to be growing well but not 'flourshing') and is probably low to medium light (1.5 WPG ish). Thanks!

I dose 3ml once a week on my 160 litre tank and my plants do fine :) I suggest you follow the instructions at first and then play around slowly dropping the frequency of dosing or you can still dose everyday but lower or increase the amount.

I think excel only lasts 24 hours once dosed which is why it is recommended you dose every day.

i dose 7.5 ml after every 50% water change and then 1 ml every day after that on my 15 gall tank. Its what the instructions say to do. However i have no other source of CO2. I get NO algae what so ever.

Its really good stuff, there used to be a different cheaper alternitive on the market but i cant find it anywhere. If i were you, i'd buy the 500ml bottle or even bigger seeing ur tank is HUGE! so it dont cost too much for you.

Overdosing ferts by a small amount isn't bad if you have constant 30ppm CO2 & high lighting (unfortunatley you dont have this). Just dose what it says on the bottle and adjust it for your plants needs.

Thanks everyone. I have follwed the bottle and the plants are definatly looking better for it!
