ive read the info here on them but doeas any1 have or know anything about brackish soles(flounders).
how big do they get?
will my bbgs be snacks?

They are numerous species of brackish soles so their size depends on the species. BBG's will become snacks. See Neale's write-up on freshwater soles.

I recommend Trinectes Maculatus aka Hogchoker Sole. I have had two of them and they're great little guys. They reach a max of about 6" and can live in vast range of salinities. The only problem I see with them is that they're actually Sub-Tropical and will prefer cooler temperatures between 70-75. Flatfish are highly sensitive to low oxygen levels and the warmer the water the less oxygen is present. I feel that oxygen is more of an issue than temperature, so if you attempt to maximize you oxygen content you should be sucessful... I have for about 6 months now.

You'll need to feed at night, and be prepared to have to feed live food until it will accept frozen. My first sole took one week, the second took two weeks.

Not much to add. As Dave says, one of the two key things with these fish is oxygen. They are totally intolerant of low oxygen levels and will come up to the surface and gasp when so stressed. The other key thing is feeding. They are nocturnal animals, and while they happily take frozen bloodworms, they can't compete with, say, catfish. So you need to make sure that they get a chance to feed properly.

Beyond that, these fish are not difficult, and well worth trying. A kept a coldwater plaice in a room-temperature tank when at university, and it got very tame. Even ate trout pellets!

Cheers,

Neale
