I want to know from the experts of this forum which is better floss to help filter your aquarium or a carbon filter? I currently use carbon in all three of my filters in the 2 tanks that I currently have running(my 20 has two filters). Would it be more benficial for my to switch to floss and only use carbon to clear up the tank post water change or medication?

Carbon won't remove ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. It will remove the 'yellow' tinge you get from bogwood.

It certainly won't affect your filtration to switch to just floss.

I know it doesn't remove ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate. I know it removes medicine and can help to decloud a tank. If there aren't any other major benefits I want to switch to floss to say money.

floss would be better and cheaper, the only thing is that floss doesn't last long until it needs rinsing. Why not use both? cos you're gonna have a bacteria colony on the carbon.

Each of the filters have media for the bacteria. I used change the carbon once a month and I would rather rinse floss to save money. Would using both cut down on replacing the carbon filters?

then aslong as you don't change all the media all at the same time, use floss. Its a great water polisher.
