Floss Filters

[Behold]

I have a tetratec ex700 and it used to polish well. but i think a month of cycling has killed that filter!! I hear floss is a better and cheaper replacement.

Where can i get it from and is there one better than the other.

Finally do i just use it in place of my old filter? and how much should i use? the top compartment where the carbon would go has only got a small media filter and the thin polishing filter then a retainer on top. do i just cram in the floss to fill the top compartment completely??? or just a thin layer the old one???
