floaty stuff on the water.

I find that i have this thin film that floats on the surface of the water and it looks like algae but it could be some type of oil i'm not sure but if its oil then can it hurt my fish

I sometimes get a film on the top of the water too. Agitating the surface of the water helps to clear it up.
