Somehow my fish keep uprooting my amazon sword in my 29 gallon (just mollies, platies, swordtails and a BN plec), I've buried it again several times and they uproot it again. I decided to give up.

I was wondering if there was a problem in letting it float? it's roots are still partially buried, and I kind of like the way they look. I just don't want it to wither on me.

I'd be willing to dose with ferts if needed.

I dont know if letteing it float will affect the plant in the long run.

How ever, have you tryed putting some slate chips around the bottom of the plant? My goldfish used to uproot plants and this stoped them.

What you may find is the plant pulls itself back down. I know some crypts will do this. I read an article about someone who had some crypts weighted but floating above the substrate and they rooted themselves and pulled themselves down in the space of a few months :)

Don't know if swords would do this, but would be interesting to know :)

I sense an experiment.

I'll just let it float. it's fine so far, but the moment it starts to wither It's being buried.
