Just starting off fish keeping, i don't want to start planting at this early stages of fish keeping. So is there any plants that i can use with out planting them? or any floating plants i can use in my tropical and cold water tank? as i feel that there should be some real live plants in the tanks not all plastic ones.

Your advice will be kindly received :)

John

amazon frogbit, water lettuce, water chestnut, duckweed, salvinia natans to name a few

they all float and are pretty undemanding

why not have a go at some easy plants you can plant. Why not try some Cabomba, Java fearns, Anubias, etc. The fish will benifit from these and you might just suprise yourself. You don't need to add C02 or have highlights for these. Ferts would be good, but they don't have to be expensive.

Thank you so kindly for your advice :) just been looking around on google about the two plants you mentioned and thought i will give it a go, by looking at some information about them you just loosely tie on rocks and other features.

Thank's again

yeah, with the Java fearn and Anubias attatch it to rock or bogwood with either fishing wire, cotton or superglue. Some LFS do sell them already attached. Make sure you post some pics if you do deceide to plant your tank.
