Hello folks,

I have reached a dilema in my aquatic habits.

How do stop floating plants floating around your tank, I want some free floating plants for my gouramis but every plant I get just gets moved around my tank and then it gets caught in stuff and then it rips and then it just makes a massive mess.

so how can I fix them so they stay put without damaging them.

cheers in advance folks.c  B)

I guess the whole nature of a floating plant means thatit's going to move around the tank a bit, but you could make like a little 'buffer zone' by making a little ring out of airline tubing to place around it... that way it might be less likely to become tangled in the other plants. I've not tried this before, but the sticky post on Riccia gave me the idea!

My solution (which happened by accident ) was to install a second filter (Fluval +2) opposite and direct the current enough so the floating plants were herded into a corner! It's not elegant, but it works!
I dunno, fix a loop of tubing and float them in that? Might work but probably wouldn't look pretty?

Andy

I see xautomaticflowersx beat me to that one! :)

xautomaticflowersx beat me to it, a floating loop of airline will do the trick.

if you have vallis in your tank you can use that as well, arrrange the leaves so they create a barrier and plop the floating plant in between the vallis leaves

Cheers Guys that seems to be the main answer. How would I fix the tubing to the tank? selotape would come unstuck and silicon is too permanent.

Good idea, Jimbo, Thanks very much. :hey:
