Floating Plants For Fry

I want something that will do well at the top and form a fairly dense mat , 6 in by 6 in. Any ideas? Whats a good hardy and attractive plant?

Well, attractive is a matter of opinion, but hornwort is good for hiding fry and does well floating. Cheap, too (at least it is here in the US)

yup yup or something like egeria densa spreads quick ! hardy and cheap ! well here it is very cheap

I suggest java moss. They cost 2.09 USD HERE They're very easy to take care off. Have fun with your fries.

Floating plants that I'd recommend are - Hornwort, Water Sprite, Water Lettuce, Amazon Frogbit, Riccia

I was looking at riccia. Looks very nice, but dont know where to get it in the UK.

Ill have a nosey about, see what i can dig up........no pun intended.

Amazon Frogbit is a great 'mini' lily-pad type surface plant with long trailing roots... or Indian Fern: produces a dense root system for fry to hide in...
