So I have a lake Tang. shell dweller tank, due to no plants and lots of light, it has algae trouble.

I'm after floating plant suggestions for a hard, alkali water tank?

I'm not sure what kind of algae it is but it's like slime after a while, gets gradually worse until it's removed.

Also my 20g project :) Still needs some work on it, need to get more Java fern for top right and add some plants from a different tank to it.

Indeed, would seem you are right FKNM, cheers. The simplest thing would be to remove everything for me, it wouldn't be hard, scrap top layer of gravel off and remove the shells and clean them well. Sound an OK plan?

I think the three/four day blackout is best, even invisible amounts left in the tank and it can grow back to its former level in a few days. For floaters frogbit is nice or just plain duckweed as long as you are happy to net the excess out as it can grow fast.
