Last night i moved a oto from my 55gal to my 20 gal planted. this morning i found him floating at the surface in a head up tail down position. I have another oto in the tank and it is fine. I've had both fish for 2 months and i spent an hour adjusting him to the 20gal. The only diffrence in the water is the ph which is 7.0 in the 20gal and 7.6 in the 55gal. Is it possible he got a ph shock? and what should i do?

Something not right, as he blaoted up, is he gasping for air at the surface of the tank.

Wow that's weird. I knowthey are really sensitive. I'm assuming you added tank water to his bag/container to slowly acclimatize him to the water conditions as well as the temp?

If not it could have been pH shock though I've never seen it personally with a pH difference of less than .9, but I was dealing with hardier fish than otos.

is it really skinny? because it would have been weak. then addin to a new tank

He died yesterday :-( . I don't think he was bloated, he was fat but he has always been fat. The other oto hasn't come down with anything. I'm still confused on why he died :S . I actully thought he was healthier than the other oto because he was always plumper.
