I have three betta fish with my at college, living in the dorms with me, and every time I change the water, They end up floating for a few days or more. I know there is a bunch of chlorine in the water as I can taste is when drinking it. I use bettasafe drops in the water, which are supposed to get rid of the chlorine.

Tank size: 2 are half gallon and the third is a gallon
pH:uknown
ammonia:unknown
nitrite:unknown
nitrate:unknown
kH:unknown
gH:unknown
tank temp: mid 70's

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): floating at the top of the tank, usually in the upright position. fins may or may not be clamped

Volume and Frequency of water changes:full water change every 2 weeks

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:bettasafe dechlorinator and stress coat during water changes

Tank inhabitants: just the betta

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): none

Exposure to chemicals:possible chlorine?

You should never ever change 100% of the water. This will be the problem.
Best thing would be to change a little every day or at least 20-30% once or twice a week

This will almost stop the shock and stress from a 100%.

I think this is the problem. 2 tanks are only half a gallon and 1 is only a gallon? and u do waterchange every 2 weeks?

A fish can go into shock if the water temp changes fast, also ph.

I agree, I wouldn't advise 100 per cent water changes either. It to much shock for the fish.
As water stats can be altering to fast.

Do you have a filter and heater in the betta tanks.

helterskelter...good to know, I'll start doing that.

Hunterprey...yes you read that right.

wilder...I do not have a filter in the tanks.
