can anyone tell me how to stop a large piece of bogwood floating around my tank.
it has been soaking for ages and is now in my tank with a large rock on top of it.
every couple of days i try to take the rock off but it just shoots up to the top ofthe tank.
i find this odd bacause this piece has been in my tank before and it sat in there fine but now it just wants to annoy me.

it cant be bogwood if it floats, bogwood is too dense to float and will sink like a stone into water even when dry.

You probably have drift wood. this can take weeks and months to sink if its dry. You say its been in your tank before, i cant see how it would suddenly float unless you took it out and let it dry out before putting it back in?

You'll have to do what you were doing and weigh it down, its could take weeks to stay submerged, so i wouldnt go through the trouble of testing it every couple of days.

silicone to a piece of slate or glass and bury the slate or glass in the gravel.

mine floated around for about 3 weeks before i got annoyed and decided 2 attack it with slate, it stayed down for about a week then i took the slate off and we get on perfectly now, he knows he has 2 stay sunk now or il get the slate on him :p

dont know y i just referred 2 my bogwood as if it was a real person

i'll probably jus leave it like that for now then. acctually getting quite attached to my huge rock on a log to be honest.
thanks

i have put mine in a bucket with some tank water with 2 rocks ontop of it
