Hi

My Interpet pf1 filter has 2 slots, 1 for plain foam and 1 for carbon, altho a super fine pad can also be placed next to the carbon. Is it worth using the super fine pad?. Apparently they only have about a 3 week life span? Im currently only using 1 plain and 1 carbon but i am tempted to replace the carbon with another normal plain foam as ive no real need for carbon yet. Is this a good idea or should i use the super fine foam instead?

Take the carbon out like you stated, as there is not need for it unless you are trying to remove discoloration, meds smell etc. Put another foam pad in its place, and then put the really fine pad in between.

Is the really super fine pad like filter floss (polyester, filter fiber).

If it is, then it should be replaced or cleaned really well every 3 days or so. Don't worry about colonizing any bacteria on it since you have to clean or replace it so often.
