Hi All

I have just seen one of my corys flicking and rubbing his side on a slate.

I have had a good look at him and cant see anything out of the ordinary.

However I don't want to leave it to chance.

I have some protizin, would it be worth putting the tank through a course?

Also, I have Shrimps now, is protozin safe to use with them in the tank?

All the water params are ok, with nitrite and ammonia at 0, and nitrates at about 5. PH is 6.5

Thanks
Aaron

Corys are not prone to whitespot, they never get it, more the bacterial side with corys.
Corys do flick and and rub now and then.
Is the cory heavy breathing.
Check the barbels to see if there any different.

Hi Wilder

Thanks for the reply.

Other than the flicking he looks fine. And it is the first time I have seen him do it, and he hasnt since.

I will keep an eye on them and see what happens

Thanks
Aaron

Could of just got something stuck in his mouth.
I wouldn't worry corys are not that prone to external parasites.

Hows the fish? can you get a pic of it? does it look like this. It sounds like it might be lernia although without a pic its hard to tell, if it is, flubenol 15 will sort it out in a few hours.

on another note, corys can get white spot as can any fish, even discus if its the super strain thats about in certain areas of the country

you would have to remove the shrimp as protozin is harmful to inverts.

He's only flicked once so I wouldn't go into a panic and start adding meds just yet.
Corys are not prone to whitespot, but couldnt tell you about the new strain of it.
