Hey everyone!

I noticed something strange last night...
I have prob 4-5 sword leaves that have reached the surface and have been at the surface for months.
I was trimming back my plants last night and noticed what looked like tiny nats/fleas walking around on the surface of the sword leaves that were at the surface...

The fish are very healthy, and all is good with the tank, so i dont think they are bothering anything.. just walking around, out of the water, on the sword leaves...

Kinda freaked me out, and i chopped back the swords abit more then usual.... ;)

Anyone seen these before, or know anything about em?

Ive read about this Walt although i havent personally experienced it, i dont think its anything to worry about unless they get out of hand population wise, think of it this way..............free fish food.

yeah i have no idea what they are but if i have the windows open at night and the tank lid off within seconds i get flys and moths galore all over the tank. theres always a few that fall in. needless to say they dont last very long in the tank and the fish seem to be fine.

i wouldn't worry

I get them too, but they must be different ones, since they are more attracted to the light rather than plants (I have no live plants at present). Doesn't seem to affect the fish

Cool :)
Thats kinda what i was thinking...

Ill let the fishies have a treat then if a couple fall in ;)

The tank is doing GREAT btw :)
Im finding out EI'wise, that i only have to dose everyother day to maintain my Nitrates + 15 and Phosphates 1-2, not every day....
Im just keeping the CO2 at 30-35ppm and testing for the dosing every day, along with a weekly 30-40% water change, and the tank is running wonderfully :)
I also find that if a keep up with cutting back the plants, and dont let it get too outta control, that everything balances better as well....including algae problems, of which i have very little :)
Just enough for the SAE's to have a little surface snack!
